Macro Minute: Week of July 24, 2023
Today, I would like to introduce you to Morgan Housel, an author, writer, and partner at The Collaborative Fund. Morgan’s first book, The Psychology of Money, is one of my favorite finance books in recent years. He is also set to release his second book, Same as Ever, in November. Recently, I had the opportunity to listen to all of his available podcasts, which you can find by clicking here.
Morgan has a unique storytelling approach to conveying concepts, aiming to deliver deep meaning in a simple and concise manner. While I may not agree with all of his beliefs, hearing him express his perspectives has helped solidify my own. He defines his investment beliefs as follows: “I am a passive investor who is optimistic about the world’s ability to generate real economic growth, and I am confident that over the next 30-50 years, that growth will accrue to my investments.”
This insight comes from his Podcast episode titled Play Your Own Game. While this may not align with your own beliefs, I believe that listening to his reasoning can be beneficial for all of us.
Morgan’s work provides a number of thought-provoking examples, reminiscent of the wisdom books from history. If you prefer the written word, I highly recommend his book. He is also frequent contributor to The Collaborative Fund’s blog, which you can access by clicking here.
